Length of service - one
month
Duties - Please show up 30 minutes before Mass. Move the table with
the hosts and bulletins from the wall to the center of the entrance.
Greet people as they are entering the church. If people are new to
the parish, help them fill out an enrollment form.
After the sermon, gather the collection baskets and walk to the
front of the church. Bow to the tabernacle. Begin passing the basket
from row to row, while counting the number of people. When you reach
the back of the church, place the money in the basket with the red
lining along with the number count of people attending church.
At the end of the Mass, open the doors. After people have left the
church, check the pews and make sure the missals and song books are
neatly placed back in their holder in the pews. Check the doors to
make sure they are locked before you leave.
Lector:
Length of service - one week
Duties - Please check the readings the week before you are to read
and become familiar with the readings. The day you read, pick up and
wear the medallion, so we will know that the reader is in the church
that week. Check that the book is turned to the right readings.
After completing the first reading, step back just a little while
the choir leader does the responsorial psalm. After the psalms, step
back and read the second reading. When you finish, place the book on
the shelf below. Walk back to your pew and remain standing. After
Mass, return the medallion back to the podium.
Gift Bears:
Length of service -one week
Duties - After the ushers take up the collection in your pew walk to
the back of the church. Wait for the ushers to return with the
collection. Gather the two containers of hosts and move to the
center of the aisle. When you see Father rise, proceed to the front
of the church with the hosts and the collection. Give Father the
hosts and collection. Remain standing while he bless the collection.
Return to your seat.
Eucharist Ministers:
Length of service - one month
Duties - Before Mass collect and wear the medallion for Eucharist
ministers. After the Sign of Peace, proceed to the left side of the
Altar. After giving you communion Father will give you either the
host or the wine. As you give communion to each person, say "Body of
Christ" or "Blood of Christ". To those who will not be receiving
communion, place a had on the forehead and give a simple blessing.
At the end of the communion service go to the right side of the
Altar.
After Mass return the bowls that hold the hosts to the vestibule.
Place all dirty linen in the sacristy marked drawer in the hall. Get
clean linens for the next service.
